BRECKINRIDGE HERALD NEWS OBITUARY – 12/14/1972
On Tuesday, Dec. 5, 1972, funeral services were held at the St. Rose Catholic Church, Cloverport, for Joe L. Mattingly, who passed away on Dec. 3, at the Breckinridge Memorial Hospital, Hardinsburg. Officiating in this service was Msgr. William B. Jarboe. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery. Following the death of Mr. Mattingly, the body was taken to the Harry L. Dhonau Funeral Home, remaining there until the funeral service. Pallbearers were C.G. Winchell, Charlie Winchell, Lamar Ryan, Sargent Keenan, Sam Bland and Ronnie Mattingly. Mr. Mattingly was born August 21, 1890 at Mattingly, Ky., and was the son of Frank and Jennie Ruppert Mattingly. He was a retired farmer. Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Merl Mingus, Cloverport; a son William E. Mattingly, also of Cloverport; three brothers, Alfred Mattingly, Hardinsburg, Ernest Mattingly, St. Petersburg, Fla., Thomas Mattingly, Detroit, Michigan and four sisters, Mrs. Mary O. Payne, Hardinsburg, Mrs. Leona Pfeiffer, St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. Juanita Finzer, also of St. Petersburg and Mrs. Roy Wharton, Miami, Fla. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
