"Rev. J. H. Ball, pastor of the First Methodist church will have charge of funeral services at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Methodist church for Mrs. James A. C. Howell, who died at the family residence in this city at 3:45 a.m. Saturday, January 9. Mrs. Howell, who was born on May 30, 1856, has been living in Altus for more than 25 years. She was before her marriage on December 22, 1872, Miss Maggie U. Trotman. The marriage was in Rockwall County, Texas. Nine children were born to this union and she is survived by her husband; one son, Homer, of Altus; and four daughters, Mrs. Mary Davis of Graham, Texas, Mrs. Lucy Leslie of Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Frank Hodges of Altus and Mrs. Maggie Mae Hodges of Paul's Valley. Her husband, son and daughters are here for the funeral service. In addition, she is survived by two brothers, J. R. Trotman of Klondike, Texas, and George O. Wallace of Dallas, who are here for the service, and one brother, Tom Trotman, of San Angelo, Texas who is unable to be here. Mrs. Howell was a member of the Methodist church for more than 60 years."
