Howell had returned from prayer meeting Wednesday night and was complaining of feeling bad. He remained up after his wife, who was slightly ill, had gone to bed. Mrs. Howell heard her husband fall and went across the street to call Dr. J. H. McConnell. Dr. McConnell came as soon as he was able but Howell was dead by the time he arrived.
Howell, who had lived in Altus for the past 22 years, was in the grocery business here. Besides his wife, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. C. Howell of Altus; four sisters, Mrs. J. C. Hodges of Altus, Mrs. J. P. Leslie of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Mary Davis of Graham, Texas, and Mrs. J. H. Hodges of Richland, Tex.; and two brothers, Homer Howell of Altus and J. T.
