Nelle D. Liebovich, 91, a lifelong resident of Rockford, died Thursday, May 29, 2008, in her home.
Nelle was born May 11, 1917, the daughter of James and Marie (Ognibene) Cassioppi. She married Carl V. Liebovich on Sept. 9, 1939, in Clinton, Iowa.
Nelle was a fabulous wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, mother-in-law and homemaker who was devoted to her family. She was a member of Ohave Shalom Synagogue and Mauh-Na-Tee-See Country Club. Nelle loved to cook and everyone loved her Italian foods.
Survived by children, Carole (James) Levi, Gregory (Gail) Liebovich and Larry (Barbara) Liebovich; grandchildren, Elizabeth Levi (Leon Davis) Stephanie Levi, Jennifer Levi, Brian (Frederica) Liebovich, Kevin (Carrie) Liebovich, Lauren Liebovich, Nikelle Liebovich and Jason Liebovich; great-grandchildren, Giulia and Alessia Liebovich, Shane Levi and Olivia and Miles Liebovich; sister, Maymie Pozzi; brothers-in-law, Theodore (Shirley) Liebovich and Mickey Maso; sisters-in-law, Leatrice Cassioppi, Dorothy Liebovich and Thenora Cassioppi; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; husband, Carl (Sept. 3, 2005); brothers, Benny and Frank Cassioppi; sisters, Mary Cataine, Katherine Maggio, Corrina Cacciatore and Leona Vincent; brothers-in-law, Joe Cataine, Lawrence Maggio, Victor Pozzi, Angelo Cacciatore, John Vincent, Albert and Joseph Liebovich; and sisters-in-law, Alice Maso and Belle Liebovich.
Service at 10 a.m. Monday, June 2, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, with visitation from 9 a.m. to time of service; Rabbi Steven Lowenstein will officiate. Burial in Rockford Hebrew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 4777 E. State St., Rockford, IL 61108.
