Funeral services for Annie Merle Cox, 79, of Rt. 3, Gilmer were
held at 2p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, at Croley Chapel with Rex Nolan
and Joel Gibbons officiating. Burial was at Hopewell Cemetery.
Mrs. Cox died Sept. 3 at her residence. A native Texan, she was
born November 24, 1903 and had lived in Upshur County most of her
life. She was a housewife and a member of the Pritchett Baptist
Church.
Survivors include a son, Narvel Cox of Gilmer; two daughters,
Gloria Joyce Smith of Houston and Eva Nell Anderson of Gilmer;
three sisters, Mrs. Willie Hamilton of Shepherd, Mrs. Jewell
Steelman of Marshall, and Mrs. Leslie Thorn of Gilmer; 11
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbears were Bobby Maberry, Jerry Steelman, Clinton Tomlin, Roy
Smith, Rex Barnwell, and Ben Hudson.
