Mr. Audie Cox, 70, of Rt. 3, Gilmer died Saturday morning at
Gilmer Hospital after an extended illness.
Born in Upshur County on Jan. 19, 1900, he was a life resident
and married Miss Merle Bowin on Oct. 21, 1923. He was a retired
farmer and a deacon at the Pritchett Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Merle Cox; one son, Narvel Cox of
Gilmer; two daughters, Mrs. Gloria Joyce Smith of Houston, and
Mrs. Eva Anderson of Gilmer; and nine grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday at 3p.m. at Croley Chapel with Rev.
J.C. Henderson and Rev. C. D. Speed officiating. Burial was in
Hopewell Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Troy Maberry, Juddy Catlett, Bobby Maberry,
Jerry Long, Harvey Smith, and James Smith.
