J. Howard Abney, 66, 1220 Sycamore, was found dead in his truck on Grammer road at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police investigating the incident believed Abney died about two hours before he was found. He apparently suffered a heart attack while driving.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver funeral home by the Rev. J.V. Davis. Burial will be at Daugherty cemetery.

Persons may call at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday until time of service.

Abney was born July 26, 1909, in Barren county, Ky., to the late John and Annie Thaxton Abney. He married the former Alta Gearhart Dec. 3, 1949, and she survives.

Other survivors include a son, James Abney, at home; two daughters, Geneva Stewart of Florida and Jeanne Abney of 1533 Franklin; five stepsons, Lee Gearhart of Miami Beach, Fla., Kenneth and Jack Gearhart, both of route 1, Dean Gearhart of Route 9, and Richard Gearhart of Route 4; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Larry Copeland of 1820 Jolinda; two brothers, William Abney of Kokomo and Jessie Abney of Glasgow, Ky.; four sisters, Christine Harris and Annie Neal, both of Glasgow, Ky., Evie Bruton of Crawfordsville and Elizabeth Watson of Kokomo, 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was employed by Griffin Industries, Inc., as a truck driver.
