Funeral services were held at the Community Church in Oak at 1:00 p.m. today for Eugene Follmer, 78, life-long county resident who died Monday at Superior. The Rev. Lincoln B. Justice of Nelson officiated, with Masonic services held at the graveside in Nelson.

Eugene Arthur, son of George Dallas and Eva M. Follmer, was born at Nelson, Nebr., on Nov. 24, 1880, and died July 14, 1958, at Brodstone hospital (sic) in Superior at the age of 78 years.

When Eugene was four years of age the family moved to their home on the hill one half mile north of Oak. His entire life was spent there with the exception of the time spent attending high school in Lincoln and the university there for one year.

His favorite sports were track and football. He was a member of the famous football team at the university in 1902 and also a 50 year member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.

Eugene belonged to the Masonic Tyrian Lodge No. 243 at Oak, Tehama Temple Noble of Hastings, was a life member of Nebraska's Freemasons Association, of the Royal Arch Masons at Edgar, Knights Templar Palmyra Commandary and Royal and Select Masters, Damascus Council No. 14 of Superior. He was also a member of Tyre Chapter, Eastern Star Lodge No. 266 of Oak and an alumni club member of the University of Nebraska.

Eugene was preceded in death by his mother and father, a brother, Clarence, and sister, Pansy. He will be missed greatly by his brothers, Harry and Ralph, and sisters, Katherine and Fern, a large number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
