William Jasper Davis "Bill" Jared, 87, a longtime resident and businessman of North Central Washington, died Tuesday, June 1, 1999 at his home in East Wenatchee after several years of declining health.

He was born the second of eight children on Jan. 27, 1912 to Julius Franklin and Dora (Lowe) Jared in Ada, OK. On Dec. 29, 1932, he married Ada Fears in Ada, OK. Bill and Ada first came to the Wenatchee valley area in 1937, moved back to Oklahoma and due to Bill's bout with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, his doctor recommended he move west and they returned with their three children permanently in 1944. In 1945, Bill worked for the Army Air Corps as the Assistant Fire Chief at the air base in Ephrata and in 1949, worked for the Great Northern Railroad as an oil pumper. In 1953, he purchased the Viewdale service station and later added used cars to his business. He was assisted in that business at various times by Ada and their two sons. In 1982, Bill retired from his business and began a sideline, growing super walnuts at his home in East Wenatchee.

Mr. Jared was a longtime member of the Riverside Masonic Lodge #112 F & AM. Many residents will remember Bill from his days at the Viewdale.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ada, at the family home in East Wenatchee; a daughter, Dora McCollum of Kennewick, WA; two sons, William P. Jared and wife, Joan, of East Wenatchee and Julius D. Jared and wife, Ellen, of Auburn, WA; 7 brothers and sisters, Margaret Melville of Wenatchee, Glossye Isaacs, Lavonia Deaton, Vivian Jared, Keith, Joe and Frank Jared, all of Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Bill Jared will be conducted Friday morning, June 4, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee with the Rev. Doyle Goldy officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow with the Riverside Masonic Lodge #112 F & AM assisting. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made in his name to the Central Washington Hospital Hospice Fund.
