ATHENS - Bonnalyn Rowell "Bonnie" Corey, 89, of Athens, died Saturday afternoon, March 31, 2001, at the Willow Acres Assisted Living in Riceville.
A native of Marion, SC, she was a daughter of the late Julius and Elizabeth Rowell and was preceded in death by three sisters. A 1931 graduate of the Medical College of South Carolina where she received her bachelor of science and registered nursing degrees, she served as a registered nurse for 40 years with 30 of those as charge nurse at Epperson Hospital/Athens Community Hospital. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son Donald (Peggy) Corey of Southaven, Miss.; and 5 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Jerry Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Morris officiating. A private burial will be in McMinn Memory Gardens.
