Funeral services for Helen C. Barsness were held on Saturday, Feb. 3, 1968 at 2 p.m. from the First Lutheran church. The Rev. Philip Westby officiated. Casket bearers were H. James Boyd, Stanley Erickson, Richard Olson, Bernhard Sonstegard, Howard Urness and Earl Wolfe. Interment was in West Moe Lutheran church cemetery.

Helen Marie Barsness was born in Urness township, Douglas county, Minn., Dec. 19, 1889, the daughter of Christopher and Jorgina Christopherson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the West Moe Lutheran church. She attended the District school and St. Cloud State College. She taught school up to the time of her marriage to Arthur Barsness on July 25, 1915. They made their home at Comstock, Neilsville and Isle, Minn. Upon the death of her husband in 1928 she returned to her childhood home with her two small children. In 1947 she moved to Alexandria which has since been her home. Here she became a member of the First Lutheran church.

Mrs. Barsness died Thursday, Feb. 1, 1968 at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 12 days. Surviving are a son, Arthur J. Barsness of Hutchinson, Minn., two nieces and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur; a daughter Muriel; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
