Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Okerlund were held Monday, Nov. 20, 1961, at 2 p.m. from the First Lutheran church, Rev. Philip G. Westby officiated. Casket bearers were: Arthur Barsness, Hilder Fedje, Bertil Frykman, Earl Hanson, Howard Johnson and Elner Strom. Interment was in Kinkead cemetery.
Mrs. Minnie Okerlund was born on Dec. 25, 1882 in Urness township, Douglas county, Minn. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the West Moe Lutheran church. After attending country school, she graduated from the Park Region Luther College in Fergus Falls. She then taught school up to the time of her marriage to Ferdinand Okerlund, March 6, 1903. From 1903 to 1907 she lived in Norwich, N.D., where her husband operated a hardware store. In 1907 they moved to a farm in Evansville township where they resided until 1942. They then moved to Alexandria and joined the First Lutheran church. Mrs. Minnie Okerlund passed away Thursday, Nov. 16, at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 25 days.
Surviving are a daughter (Hyacinth) Mrs. Edwin Engstrom of Alexandria, two brothers, Oscar and Joseph Christopherson living in Urness township. Two sisters, Mrs. Helen Barsness of Alexandria and Mrs. Ole Barsness of Alexandria. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ferdinand.
