John Alfred Anderson.
John Alfred ANDERSON, aged 84 years, a former resident of Belleview neighborhood, died yesterday morning at his home in Ottawa after an illness of seven weeks.
He was a native of Sweden where he was born at Askersund December 13, 1858. He came to the United States at the age of 22, going to Grand Rapids, Mich. He arived in Ottawa in 1915, after having lived for a time at Vinland and Lawrence, and had made his home in and near Ottawa the remainder of his life. Before coming here Mr. Anderson lived on a farm seven miles northwest of Ottawa. He was married to Christina Maria ECKMAN September 1, 1885, at Lawrence. She died in 1930.
Surviving relatives are five children, Mrs. Louis GERSTENBERGER, Byers, Colo.; Mrs. William HICKOK, Lawrence; Miss Olga ANDERSON, Kansas City; Edgar Anderson, Ottawa and Karl Anderson, of the U.S. armed forces stationed in the Hawaiian Islands. He arrived by plane yesterday on a 30-day emergency furlough. There are 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren of Mr. Anderson living. Mrs. R.E. TALBOTT of Paola is a niece of the deceased.
The funeral will be at the Lamb funeral home Thursday at 10 a.m. Rev. Alfred CLARK of the Centropolis Baptist church is to officiate, and interment is to be in Vinland cemetery.
