William Riley Hawkins, born on March 9, 1907, to Philander and Mary Ellen Hawkins, was a farmer, devoted husband to Velma L. Williams whom he married in 1927, and a man of faith. His love for God and the Bible was evident as he read it every night. William had a passion for hunting and often shared delightful stories about his hunting dog, Rover. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Cookeville, TN.

The couple, William and Velma, was blessed with eight children, and William's legacy continued through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Known for his friendly nature, he never met a stranger and enthusiastically shared his faith with others. William also passed on the gift of music to his children, teaching them how to sing. His impact on his family's spiritual life and the joy he brought through his stories and love for hunting continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
