Kelly Brannan, 88, died Friday night at his home and funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday from Hill Chapel with Rev. Lela Gordon officiating. Burial will be in A. O. U. W. Cemetery. Mr. Brannan had been ill for some time. He came to Woods County from Kansas at the opening of the Cherokee Strip and settled on a farm west of Alva. He was the son of Alexander and Sarah (Whitaker) Brannan and was born on June 3, 1853 in Illinois. He is the last of his immediate family. Nieces and nephews of nearest of kin are: James Roller of May, Ella Russell of Kansas City, Missouri, Anna Brown of Selah, Washington, Lou Hutchins of Alva, Annie Van Gundy of Kiowa, Kansas, and Lucy Strohmeier of Riverside, California. Besides these there are a number of grand nieces and nephews who loved him for his kindly ways. Mr. Brannan was a man with whom the ties of family were strong and he devoted himself for years to his widowed mother and her care. He never married and established a home of his own. Death found him calm and unafraid as he looked toward the Beyond. Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
