Mamie Ruth Christmas Davis was born to the late Henry Sr. and Janie Herron Christmas on May 6, 1933 in Adams County, MS (Natchez).

Mamie was educated in the school system of Kingston, MS. She accepted Christ and was baptized at Guiding Light Missionary Baptist Church of New Orleans, Louisiana and continues under the leadership of the late Reverend G.R. Washington Sr. She later jointed Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church of New Orleans, LA where she served on the Senior Usher Board under the guidance of the late Pastor Roosevelt Malone Sr. and Residing Pastor Roosevelt Malone, Jr. Mamie married Ben Jones Jr and to that union four children were born: Morris Ray, Bennie Lee, Carolyn Theresa and Sharon Marie. After his untimely passing, she later married Roscoe Davis and to that union two children were born: Terri Lynne and Michael Antonio.

Mamie lived her younger years in Natchez, MS before finding her forever home in New Orleans, LA. Mamie enjoyed the culture of the city, the parades, festivals and food. Mamie enjoyed cooking, fishing and hosting family gatherings.
She was affectionately known as "Aunt Mook" to all of her nieces and nephews.

Mamie departed this earthly life on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at the age of ninety surrounded by her loving family.

She leaves to cherish her memory to three daughters: Carolyn and Sharon Jones of New Orleans, LA and Terri Davis of Shreveport, LA and one son Michael Davis of New Orleans, LA. Twelve grandchildren: Lachelle, Antoine, Nicholas, Le'shon, Lisa, Jeremy, Larissa, Leslie, Michael, Jr. Jourdan, Raejeem and Zyrian. Twenty-two great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. Two godchildren: Tyachell Gordon-Bailey and Coby Sears...one loving brother Alfonse Christmas, Sr. of Natchez, MS. Devoted first cousin Charles Christmas (Manny) and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry Christmas, Sr. and Jane Herron Christmas. Husband Roscoe Davis, two sons Morris Ray and Bennie Lee Jones. Eight sisters Estelle Christmas, Alberta Mounton, Edna Phipps, Rose Carter, Phoebe Long, Elouise Monconduit, Forrestine Williams and Ida Scineaux. Eight brothers: Clarence Tucker, Sr, Joseph, Henry Jr, Eugene, Robert, Frank Sr., Tom, Sr. and Issac Christmas, Sr. Services will be held Thursday October 5, 2023 at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church 2717 Joliet Street in New Orleans, LA 70118. Visitation begins at 9 am and funeral services at 10 am.
