Little Francis Abbott

Little Francis Abbott died Sunday at the Abbott home from tetanus. The precious little girl, who had gladdened the hearts of parents and friends during her short life, met the Grim Reaper with a fortitude and patience that no amount of suffering could break down. She was a beautiful child, loved by all who knew her, and everybody mourns with her sorrowing parents and relatives over their sudden bereavement. Last Sunday, a week ago little Francis with several other small friends were riding her pony and while frolicking she fell, breaking her forearm and dislocating her elbow, and though every care and medical attention was given her, the terrible germ tetanus set in resulting in her death.
Thank God for the laugh of a little child, That echoes along the day, And breaks the dark of the toiler's life With the dawn of its golden ray!
It softens the road of the roughened pave To a lane of the smoothest gold; It touches the buds of faded hope Till they loosen and unfold; It floods the world with the light of a song.
