Rites Held For Mrs. Jack Abbott

Sunday afternoon at 2:30 devoted relatives and friends assembled in the Barry Funeral Home to Pay final tribute to Mrs. Hallie Abbott, beloved Wife of Jack Abbott, retired engineer. The rites were conducted by the Rev. L. K. Foster, pastor of Okolona First Presbyterian Church.

Burial was in the Oddfellows Cemetery. Pallbearers were Abbott Best of Orangeburg, South Carolina, J. Q. DeMoville, L. W. DeMoville, Tom Woodfin, E. H. Latimer and Oliver Ellis.

Mrs. Abbott, who was 89, died at 8:30 Saturday Morning at Okolona Community Hospital where she had been a patient for a brief time. She and Mr. Abbott had been residents of the Shearer Richard Nursing Memorial Home for the past four years.

Mrs. Abbot a daughter of the late Ben J. Abbott and the late Lucy Green Abbott, pioneer citizens, was born and reared in Okolona. For a number of years she and Mr. Abbott resided in Helena, Arkansas, where he was an electrical engineer with the city. He retired 25 years ago and they returned to Okolona and lived on their farm on Highway 45 a few miles north of the city.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Abbott leaves a son, Jack Abbott, Jr. of Carter, Georgia; three daughters, Mrs. William Hendricks of Memphis, Mrs. Frank Best of Orangeburg, South Carolina and Mrs. Baxter Ellis of Memphis and Carter, Georgia; a sister, Mrs. George Shelton, all of who were here; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Among other relatives and friends coming for the rites were: Frank Best, Frank Best, Jr., of Orangeburg; Baxter Ellis, Memphis and Carter Georgia; Mr and Mrs. Thomas J. Robinson of Memphis; Mrs. Deora Ramsey, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Arnold, Mrs. William Frances and Miss Besty Stark, all of Starkville; and William Hendricks of Memphis.
