Rites set for H. Schessler
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday in St. John's Lutheran Church for Henry Schessler Jr., 80, who died early Tuesday morning in the Billings Deaconess Hospital following an extended illnuss. The Rev. Leonard Harris will officiate; burial will be in the Park City Cemetery with the Memorial chapels of Laurel in charge of arrangements.
He was born in Walter, Russia, April 23, 1897, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Schessler. He came to the United States in 1903 and settled in Park City in 1908. He attended Park City Schools. He also attended Siminary College in South Dakota and Polytechnic College in Billings, now Rocky Mountain College.
He owned and operated Schessler's Da-Lite Mart in Laurel for 25 years before retiring 13 years ago. He spent many hours at his hobby of woodworking.
Mr. Schessler married Martha Giesick on Jan. 19, 1925 in Hardin, and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include the widow of Laurel; two sons, Thomas E. of Lakewood, Colo.; and Kenneth (Rick) of Portland, Ore.; one daughter Mrs. Fred (Geraldine) Sielbach Jr. of Billings; two brothers Herman Schessler of Laurel and Theodore Schessler of Billings; two sisters Mary Benner and Beth Zoppell, bother of Billings, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
