NELSON SINE was born on 18 Jun 1852 in Shenandoah County, Virginia, the son of Daniel Sine and Matilda McDaniel Sine. While the death certificate attached which was signed by Nelson's youngest son Earl shows his grandmother's maiden name as White, research has shown that her last name was McDaniel as listed in to her Shenandoah County Marriage records. Additionally, Arthur Franklin Sine, the eldest son's grandson, Jim Follin has been working on the discrepancy of her last name for years.

Nelson had two siblings:
1) CAROLINE A. (Carrie) "Sis" SINE (1855-1932) m. Henry W. Bauserman - both buried in Massanutten Cemetery, Woodstock, VA
2) DILLMON M. SINE(1862-1946) m. Sara C. Helsley - both buried in Columbia Furnace Union Church Cemetery (Old Section)

Nelson Sine married Mary Elizabeth Lear on 11 Mar 1873 in Shenandoah County, Va, the daughter of Matilda Helsley and Atwell Lear.

Nelson and Mary Elizabeth Lear Sine were blessed with a total of nine children - six boys and three girls:

In May 2011, Rachel Sine Gilmore of Florida, the daughter of Arthur Sine and Emma Romick Sine, and one of the only living grandchildren of Nelson Sine and Mary Elizabeth Lear Sine, said that her granddaddy Nelson Sine died from pneumonia after walking to his blacksmith shop at Columbia Furnace in the rain and getting soaking wet. He is buried in the (Old Section) Columbia Furnace Union Church Cemetery.

RITES YESTERDAY FOR NELSON SINE
Mr. Nelson Sine, highly respected citizen of Columbia
Furnace, died at his home on Friday morning at an early
hour after having been ill with pneumonia for only two
days. Prevous to that time he had been in his usual health
although he was past eighty-five years of age.
He spent his entire life in the neighborhood where he
died and had a host of friends in this section where for
many years he had a blacksmith shop. He was a kind,
cheerful man and always ready and willing to do a kindness
for others.
His wife, who was before marriage, Miss Elizabeth Lear,
died many years ago. He also had three children dead and
six living, 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters Mrs. Arthur Stoneburner of
Readus and Mrs. John Andrick of Columbia Furnace, four
sons, Earl, Daniel, Harry and Arthur all of Columbia
Furnace, one brother, Mr. Dilman Sine also of Columbia
Furnace.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Lawrence
Helsley and interment was in the Columbia Furnace cemetery.
The large funeral and the many beautiful flowers showed the
esteem in which Mr. Sine was held by all who knew and
loved him.
Pallbearers were Messers. Clarence Larkins, J.D. Cook,
Joe Larkins, Marvin Clark, Bill Vann and Terry Mauck.
Flower girls were Misses Ruth Cook, Mary McDonald, Lena
Cook, Ruth Miller, Elizabeth Miller and Jean Wolverton.
Friends from a distance attending the funeral were Mr.
and Mrs. Calvin Hantz and daughter Dona Lee, Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Irvin and children Norma Jean and Helen and Miss Mabel
Sine of Altoona, Pa., Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sine and son, of
near Luray, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sine and children of
