The funeral for Harold E. Ross , 82, of 12 McDonald Road, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Frary Funeral Home with Deacon Mark LaLonde officiating. Burial will be in Ogdensburgh Cemetery.

Mr. Ross died Sunday at Ocala (Fla.) Regional Medical Center.

He worked for McConville Trucking on the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway before becoming a safety officer at the St. Lawrence State Hospital, now St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, where he retired as grounds supervisor in 1976.

Born March 20, 1925, in Brockville, Ontario, son of Archie and Edith Renaud Ross, he graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946.

He married Theresa A. MacDonald on July 28, 1948, at St. Mary's Cathedral. She died Jan. 25, 2003.

Mr. Ross enjoyed reading, playing cards, collecting tools and going to flea markets. He loved his home on the St. Lawrence River and took great joy in hunting, fishing and gardening.

Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, two daughters and their husbands, two brothers and a sister-in-law, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A sister, Dolores Planty, died in 2006, and a son-in-law, Mark Skipka, died in 2003.
