Ogdensburg Journal - October 26, 1987:
Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Ross McDermott, 81, Parkview Rise Apts., Ogdensburg, were held today with a prayer service at 10 a.m. at the Fox Funeral Home in Ogdensburg and mass at 10:30 a.m. at Notre Dame Church with Rev. Ivan Boyea officiating. Burial was in the Notre Dame Cemetery.

Mrs. McDermott died Friday morning (Oct. 24, 1987) at the A. Barton Hepburn Hospital.

Surviving are three sons, a daughter, two stepdaughters, four sisters, 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by three brothers, John, George and Leo Renaud; also a sister, Edna.

She was born Oct. 3, 1906 in St. Raphael, Ont., daughter of Leo and Agnes Larock Renaud. She attended rural schools in St. Raphael and married Archie Ross in Brockville in 1924. Mr, Ross died in 1963. She later married William McDermott on June 25, 1973 at Notre Dame Church in Ogdensburg. Mr. McDermott died in 1979.

After her first marriage, the couple lived in Canada before moving to the United States in 1926. They lived in Syracuse before moving to Ogdensburg in 1934.

Mrs. McDermott was employed as a nurses aide at the A. Barton Hepburn Hospital for 10 years and at the Cedar's Nursing Home for six years, retiring in 1971.

She was a member of Notre Dame Church.
