Ebenezer3 Skolfield (Thomas2, Thomas1) was born 13
April 1792 in Brunswick, Maine; married Lavinia Stanwood,
daughter of Captain William Stanwood (1744-1800) and Hannah
Emery Chase (1768-1833), on 1 May 1817 in Brunswick, Maine,
by the Rev. Benjamin Titcomb. He died 16 August 1874 in Weld, Maine, and was buried in Robertson Cemetery there.
In the early years of their marriage they lived at Mere Point where he purchased some land which he later sold and in 1820 moved from Mere Point in Brunswick, to Livermore, and in 1821 moved to Weld, Maine, and located on a hillside which commanded a superb view of the lake and its surrounding mountain. They first lived in a log house on the west side of the road leading to Carthage and near an excellent spring of water. During later years a dwelling house and nearby, a large barn and stable were erected to care for the many cattle and horses they raised. He was a very industrious and successful farmer, highly esteemed for his worthy life and deeds. The many acres of cleared
land and rods of stone wall testify to his many years of hard work on the place. He was a great lover of music and a fine player of the violin. His marriage to Lavinia
Stanwood brought together a union of two of the prominent families of Brunswick, Maine. In The Skolfields And Their Ships by Erminie S. Reynolds and Kenneth R. Martin, the following account of Ebenezer Skolfield appears:
From 1815 to 1821, Ebenezer was part owner of the schooner
Enterprise, built by his brother Jacob. A deed dated 9 June 1817 describes him as a mariner. He most likely sailed in coasting vessels, possibly in Enterprise, commanded by his brother-inlaw
John Meryman. He left the seacoast, going first to Livermore, then Weld, Maine, where he settled in 1821 and became a successful farmer and trader.
The children of Ebenezer3 Skolfield and Lavinia Stanwood were:

i. Octavia4 Skolfield was born 5 March 1818; married William Stanwood Robertson.

ii. Julia Ann Skolfield was born 30 June 1820 in Livermore, Maine; died 16 February 1890 in Weld Corner, Maine, in the home of her brother John where she was living. She was buried in Robertson Cemetery in Weld. She was listed in the family of John and Rachel and son, Starr King Skolfield, in the 1880 Federal Census,

iii. Lavinia Stanwood Skolfield was born 11 August 1822 in Weld, Maine; died 16 January 1842 in Weld, Maine, and was buried in the Sinnett Graveyard in Weld, Maine.

She died 17 April 1896. Her tombstone, also on the Storer lot, does not mention the name French: she is called the wife of Alfred Stone.
