Funeral services were held here today for George E. Balschweid, 70, who died Wednesday at his home here, Mr. Balschweid, a carpenter and contractor, was born July 23, 1863, at Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He had lived in and near Scio for the past 34 years.
Surviving are the widow, two sons, and five daughters. The daughters are Mrs. Vesta Wickham and Mrs. Neva Merrill, Los Angeles; Mrs. Ott Bilyeu and Mr. W. F. Carpenter, Scio and Mrs. Oreta Coopey, Corvallis. The sons are Van Balschweid, Los Angeles and Charles Balschweid, Scio.
The eulogy at the funeral today was said by G. I. Sutherland. Burial was in the Franklin Butte Cemetery.
