Julian Thomas Parcell Sr., 81, of the 2700 block of Rodgers St., died Sept. 19, 1996.
Born in Franklin County, Va., he retired 16 years ago as chief engineer of Ford Motor Company, Norfolk, after 41 years of service. He was a member of South Norfolk Baptist Church, Chesapeake, as a deacon for seven terms, a member of the trustee board for many years, and General Outreach director of the Sunday School. Also he was a member of Chesapeake General Hospital Auxiliary, past master of Namoi Lodge (NU)87 A.F. & A.M., past high priest of John Walters Royal Arch Chapter (NU)68, Scottish Rite Bodies of Norfolk, Khedive Temple of the Shrine, Westminister Chapter (NU)99, O.E.S. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Howell Parcell; a son, Julian Thomas Parcell Jr. and daughter-in-law, Tammy Lynne Parcell of Chesapeake; three sisters, Ruby Jernigan of Aulander, N.C., Mary Turner of Roanoke, Va., Pearl Foote of Bloomsburg, Pa.; two grandchildren; Julia Lynne Parcell and Christopher Thomas Parcell, both of Chesapeake.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in South Norfolk Baptist Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Frank Hughes. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park, Chesapeake, where masonic rites will be accorded. Visitation will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, Chesapeake.
