Mrs. Rebecca Emerson
Tabb - Mrs. Rebecca Oliver Emerson, 92, of 1046 George Emerson Lane died Wednesday in Walter Reed Memorial Hospital, Gloucester.
Born in Gloucester, she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Tabb, where she was its oldest member and had been a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was also a member of its Rebecca Baptist Women's Circle.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth "Lulie" Smith of Newport News; 10 sons, George B. Emerson of Edmond, Okla., Robert C. Emerson, Frederick Emerson, Chester Emerson and Jack Emerson of Tabb, R. L. Emerson of Gloucester Point, Nelson Emerson of Newport News, Charles Emerson and Herbert Emerson, both of Dare, and Sherwood Emerson of Poquoson; a sister, Mrs. Edith Fleming of White Marsh, a brother, Roland Oliver of Williamsburg; 47 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Bethel Baptist Church, Tabb, by the Rev. Franklin Hall.
Burial will be in Beech Grove Baptist Church cemetery, Gloucester.
The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 9 tonight in the Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. The body will be placed in the church by 1 p.m. Friday.
