Walter "Buck" Vaughn
Walter Jefferson "Buck" Vaughn, 66, Overbrook, died Sunday, Jan. 20, at a Topeka hospital. He had been in failing health 18 years.

Mr. Vaughn had been a carpenter.

He was born March 11, 1918, at Fayettville, Ark., the son of Charles and Myrtle Wright Vaughn.

He served in Europe during World War II with the 2730th Engineers Light Equipment Co.

Mr. Vaughn was a member of Anderson-Raible Post No. 239 of the American Legion at Overbrook, and Edward "Ted" Rowe Post No. 2709, Veterans of Foreign Wars, at Scranton.

He was married to Mildred Schneider Aug. 15, 1939, at Lyndon. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Wayne Vaughn, Topeka, and Walter Vaughn Jr., Overbrook; four daughters, Virginia Vaughn and Sandra Vaughn, both of Overbrook, Mrs. Sharon Westmoreland, Wellington, and Mrs. Janet Terrones, Garden City; a sister, Mrs. Opal Andreasen, Harveyville; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Overbrook. Burial will be in Overbrook Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by Anderson-Raible Post No. 239 of the American Legion. Mr. Vaughn will lie in state from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Greenwood-Roberts Funeral Home, Overbrook, then after 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in care of the funeral home.
