The funeral service for Mrs. Carter will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Emmanuel Baptist Church on Virginia Avenue, of which she was a faithful member. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery .
Mrs. Carter was born to the late Clarence and Martha Ladd Fargis on May 28, 1922, in Reidsville. She retired from DuPont.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, James H. Carter; one daughter, Sandra Duncan; one granddaughter, Koury Duncan; one brother, Amos Fargis, and wife Colleen of Hampton, Va.; one sister, Marie Morris, of Pensacola, Fla.; and a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leon and Betty Carter, of Eden; and many nieces and nephews
Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers and a son-in-law, Roger Duncan.
