Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson Newton, age 79, widow of the late Lamar E. Newton, died Thursday April 24, 2008. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home. Mrs. Newton's daughter Pastor Anne Burgamy and son Randall Newton will officiate. Burial will be at Baldwin Memorials Gardens.

Mrs. Newton was a native of Hancock County but spent her adult life in Baldwin County. She was retired from Newton Lumber and Supply, Inc. She along with her late husband Lamar E. Newton ran multiple bussinesses in Baldwin County for over 46 years. Mrs. Newton ran the famous Twilite Restaurant for over twenty years where she was known for her fabulous food and southern hospitality. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Burt Johnson of Hancock County. She was preceded in death by a brother Mr. Burt Johnson, Jr. of Baldwin County and a sister Anne Webb of Greensboro, Green County, Georgia.

Survivors include her daughter Annette Burgamy (Andy); her son Randy Newton (Kay) all of Milledgeville, a sister Mrs. Caribelle Johnson of White Plains, her grandchildren; Ansley Burgamy and Anderson Burgamy, devoted caregiver Ingrid Daniel of Milledgeville, a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Moores Funeral Home.
