Mr. Newton, a native of Baldwin County, was operator of Newton Lumber Supply, owner and operator of Newton's Showroom and Decorator Center and Old World Flea Market and a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Newton of Milledgeville; a son, Randy Newton of Milledgeville; a daughter, Annette Burgamy of Milledgeville; a brother, Byron Newton of Macon; and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Freedom Church Building Fund, 500 Underwood Road, Milledgeville 31061.
