Son of Sarah Keane or Kane and Thomas Bedford.


Place of birth Denaby Main per 1911 England and Wales Census. Family was resident Conisbrough (3 km SE of Denaby Main) in 1901 and Rotherham (12 km SW) in 1911.


Sarah, Thomas and their seven children arrived in Quebec City Jul 1913 aboard the SS Tunisian. Their destination was Cape Breton NS. However, they were resident in Saint John by 1917 when Thomas Jr died and were enumerated there in 1921.


Leonard immigrated to the States 23 Jul 1925 to join his brother Basil in Somerville, Middlesex County MA. He was a bank teller by occupation at the time.


According to the 1930 US Census he married Nora Kathleen Blaine in 1929. He and Nora were resident in Somerville MA 1930, 1940 and 1950, with Nora's paternal aunt Jane Blaine Walker living with them in 1930. Leonard's occupation was enumerated as bank accountant (1930), bank teller (1940) and assistant treasurer at a bank (1950).
