Mr. Wigner was born September 22, 1920, in Brunswick County, the son of the late Elton David and Lucie Pearl Clemmons Wigner. He was a member of the College Acres Baptist College and had retired from the Union Oil Company with more than forty years of service. At the time of his death, he was president of H&W Petroleum Company.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lear Pruitt Wigner of the home; a son, Edward David Wigner of Loris, S.C.; a daughter, Shirley W. (Wiley) Harrelson of Wilmington; two sisters, Louise Boswell of Wilmington and Betty Clemmons of Bolivia; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 1998, at the College Acres Baptist Church by Dr. Del Parkerson and Reverend Billy Batten. The interment will be in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
Casketbearers will be David Boswell, Ski Lapsansky, Bobby Gay, Frankie Harrelson, Kermit Lee Pruitt and Earl Simmons. Honorary bearers will be members of the Bob Dudley Senior Men's Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends at the Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Oleander Chapel, tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and at other times will be at the residence. Memorials may be made to the College Acres Baptist Church, Building Fund, Eastwood Road, Wilmington, N.C. 28403.
