Lois Jean Mitzner Schoening passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on January 1, 2024, at St. Patrick's Hospital.

Lois attended elementary school and started high school in Geraldine, MT. She transferred to Belt, and then graduated in Indiana. She spent some time in California, making her way back to the state she loved, Montana, where she went on to become a beautician.

In January of 1975, she gave birth to her daughter, Michelle. In 1980, she fell in love with the man who she would spend her life with, Curtis Schoening. Curtis also had a daughter, Jennifer.

Lois spent this time as a stay at home mom feeding anyone who walked through her door, especially during hunting season. Also a hunter, "One shot Lolo, she could outshoot some of her nephews and reminded them every chance she had!

Loving to cook and bake for others, repair torn jeans, making Barbie clothes, making baby booties for every baby ever born, and making other people laugh, was just her love language.

After a very long wait, Lois's life was forever changed when her granddaughter Maya was born in October of 2014. She was absolutely meant to be a grandma, as she has been the light of her life!

Survivors include her sister, Betty Ann Bronec (John), her daughter, Michelle Schoening, granddaughter, Maya Schoening, step daughter Jennifer Dayley and her children, Wyatt, Lowgun, and Addie, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
