Funeral services for Floyd McClain were on Tuesday forenoon, July 1, 1975 at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend W. Michael Biklen and Rev. Harvey Walker officiated at the service. Floyd passed away at the Worthington Regional Hospital in Worththgton, Minn. on the morning of June 28, 1975 following a lingering illness.

Floyd Joseph McClain, was the oldest son of Harvey and Margaret Lingschiet McClain and was born on Oct. 6, 1907, at Parkston, S. D. He attended school at Parkston, S. D., Spirit Lake and graduated from high school at Harris in 1927.

During the illness and after the death of his father, Floyd spent the next decade assisting his mother manage the family farm.

On March 31, 1941 he was united in marriage to Minnie Nugent at Montgomery. Four children were born to this family, Marlys, Arnold, Alice and Donald.

Floyd farmed at Harris and Lake Park all his adult life. He was a devoted father and husband, always ready to help his neighbors and friends in need. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Lake Park and also a member of the Order of Odd Fellows Lodge of Lake Park and served in several offices in the lodge.

Surviving and left to cherish his memory are his wife Minnie; four children, Mrs. Fred (Marlys) Beam, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Arnold of Harris; Mrs. Ray (Alice) Deel, Jackson, Minn.; and Donald of Lake Park; five grandchildren, Freddie Beam; Ann and Ben ,McClain, and Danny and Michael Deel. Four brothers also survive, Herbert and Allan of Lake Park, Leland, Harris and Harvey Delbert of San Francisco Bay area, California. One niece, Mrs. Delores Beguin of Phoenix, Ariz,, whom Floyd helped to raise and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant twin brother, Lloyd and his older sister Mrs. Eleanor McClain Harris.

Mrs. Clayton Arnold was organist and accompanied the soloist, Mr. Gilbert Smith of Whiting, Ia. sang “In the Garden” and “The Old Rugged Cross”.

Burial was in Silver Lake Cemetery at Lake Park. The IOOF Lodge had their graveside rites. Pallbearers were Harold Bahl, Clarence Christenson, Bill Hemphill, Birney Krebs, Leonard Matthiesen and Alvin Wiese.

The Leyson Funeral Home of Lake Park was in charge of the arrangements.

The IOOF had their commital rites at the graveside.
