Services for Herbert McClain, 78, Harris, were 10:30 am. Monday, Dec. 18, 1989, at the United Methodist Church, Harris, Rev. Gordon Vickery officiated. Music was provided by Mrs. Gwen Vickery, organist and Kenneth Byers, soloist. He sang “Because He Lives” and “How Great Thou Art.’ The congregation sang “In The Garden.”

Pallbearers were Roger Cook, Hank Hanson, Randy Kruger, George Laughton, Mike Mayer, and Jerome Millsap.

Mr. McClain died Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Spirit Lake.

He was born to Harvey and Margaret (Lingscheit) McClain June 6, 1911, at Parkston, S.D. He attended school at Spirit Lake and graduated from Harris High School.

He married Lucille R. Carlson Dec. 5, 1935, at Kansas City, Mo. They farmed at Ocheyedan, Terril, and moved to Harris in 1940, He became a fieldman for the Sibley Creamery, living at Laurel, Neb., and Odeboldt. He moved to a farm at Lake Park in 1966 and after retirement resided in Haines.City, Fla. and Harris.

Survivors include his wife, ; three children, all of Harris ; two brothers,, Lake Park; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Burial was in the Union Cemetery, Harris, with the Turner Funeral Home, Lake Park, in charge of arrangements.
