Resident of Nine Years Passed On At Age of 64 Following Stroke

Harvey S. McClain died at his home in Harris on Saturday, March 23, at the age of 64 years, 3 months and 10 days. The following obituary was given our Harris correspondent.

Harvey Smith McClain was born on Dec. 4, 1870 in Sheboygan county, Wisconsin. In 1881 he moved with his parents to Milltown, S. D. on a claim. Later they moved to Mitchell, S. D. Then in 1882 they moved back to the claim where he grew to manhood. Later the railroad was built through that territory and the town of Parkston was founded.

On Nov. 11, 1903, he was united in marriage to Margaret Mary Lingscheit. To this union eight children were born.

They lived on their farm until 1921 when they moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa and in 1926 they moved near Harris where he resided in happiness until the time of his death, March 23, 1935. Some time ago he suffered a stroke and complications which finally caused his death.

He is survived by his beloved wife and seven children: Eleanor Mae Bacciocco of Chicago, Floyd, Herbert Louis, Leland Arthur, Allan Willard, and Harvey Delbert, all of Harris. A twin brother of Floyd's died in infancy.

Funeral services were held at the Harris Methodist church at 2 o'cIock Monday afternoon in charge of Rev. Herbert Marsh, pastor of the Presbyterian church of Lake Park and Spirit Lake. The body was shipped Tuesday morning to Parkston, S. D. for interment.
