Karthaus - James A. Renaud, 73, of Karthaus died yesterday morning in the Philipsburg State Hospital where he had been a patient for about 20 hours.
He was born at Karthaus August 12, 1884, a son of Victor and Angeline Hugar Renaud.
His first wife, the former Anna Shadeck, preceded him in death May 19, 1947.
He is survived by his second wife, the former Julia Leigey, and the following sons and daughters:
Russell, Frenchville; Michael, Snow Shoe; Francis, Robert, Thomas, Bernard, Mrs. Steve Torok, Mrs. Richard Kosobucki, Mrs. James Ireland, Mrs. Leo Moore and Mrs. James Shafer, all of Erie.
He also leave 18 grand children, three great grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters:
Walter, Ashtabula, Ohio; Joseph, Ridgway; William, Lawrence, Mrs. Elara Shadeck, Mrs. Mabel Shadeck and Mrs. Esther Rougeux, all of Karthaus.
Mr. Renaud was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church of Frenchville, the Snow Shoe Fire Company, and the Grassflat Moose Club. He had served as a state forest ranger for nine years, but spent most of his life doing general work around the mines.
Funeral services will be held from the St. Mary's Church Monday morning, Feb. 3, at 9 o'clock with Rev. Stephen Katarzynski officiating. Burial will be made in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at Mr. Renaud's home tonight and until time of the services Monday morning.
