Wife of Elwood Attorney Expires This Morning After Week's Illness.
FUNERAL SERVICES TO BE CONDUCTED SUNDAY
Mrs. Mary Louisa Pickering Broadbent, 69, wife of Richard F. Broadbent, prominent Elwood attorney, residing at 119 North Eleventh street, died at the Mercy hospital at 6 o'clock this morning, of paralysis and complications after an illness of about one week.
She was born July 12, 1868, at Cadiz, the daughter of Marcus and Harriett Pickering.
She was united in marriage to Attorney R. F. Broadbent December 2, 1891, at Cadiz. They removed to Elwood soon after their marriage.
Mrs. Broadbent was active in club work. She was a member of the Elwood Department Club, Delphian Club, U and I Circle and Order of Eastern Star. She served one term as matron of the Order of Eastern Star. The deceased was a member of the M. E. Church at Cadiz.
Leaves Four Children.
Surviving besides the husband are four of seven children. They are: Dr. Oliver Broadbent, of Jacksonville, Fla.; Dr. Mary Broadbent, of New York City; Richard Broadbent, of Atlanta, Ga., and Miss Adah Broadbent, at home. There is one grandchild.
She also leaves one brother, Carl Pickering, of Newcastle; and two sisters, Mrs. Rosiland Parker, Knightstown, and Mrs. Howard Riley, of Muncie.
Funeral Sunday.
The body was removed to the Copher and Fesler Funeral Home where services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. V. Hayes Miller, pastor of the East Main Street Christian Church, in charge.
Friends will be privileged to call at the funeral home tonight between the hours of 7 and 9 and tomorrow from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
