Funeral services for Hazel Bowen, age 91, of Roanoke will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at 2:00 PM CST at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Mark Brand and Bro. Richard Laird officiating. Burial will follow at Gray Hill Church of God Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00-7:00 PM CST on Saturday, February 8, 2020.

Ms. Bowen passed away Thursday, February 6, 2020, at Hospice LaGrange in LaGrange, Georgia.

Survivors include: nieces and nephews, Rachel Worrell of LaGrange, GA, Trudy Fincher of Woodland, Sharon Yarbrough of Lanett, Jimmy Huddleston of Bethany, LA, Ida Ann Dunn of Manchester, GA, Ernie Bowen of Fayetteville, GA, Joel Bowen of Woodbury, GA, Donald Bowen of Dalton, GA, Linda Brady Hernandez of Milwaukee, WI, Roger Bowen of LaGrange, GA, and Susan Davis of Pontiac, IL; 19 great-nieces and nephews; 30 great-great-nieces and nephews; and nine great-great-great-nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Yarbrough, Tyler Dunn, Joel Bowen, Jason Edgemon, Caleb Brown, and James Batté. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Huddleston, Ernie Bowen, Roger Bowen, Donald Bowen, and J. R. Fincher.

A Randolph County native, Ms. Bowen was born on January 25, 1929, the daughter of Elijah Jackson and Lue Butler Bowen. She was a member of Handley Avenue Church of God where she played piano and organ and served in many of the church offices, and she worked as a seamstress for Palm Beach for many years.

Ms. Bowen was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Brasley Huddleston and Daisy Bailey; three brothers, Juel Bowen, Joel Bowen, and Junior Bowen; nephew, Bobby Joe Huddleston; and great-niece, Carol Worrell Turner.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made in her memory to Quattlebaum Funeral Home to go toward final expenses.
