St. Clair Thompson, 84, died Monday, February 3, 2003, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Services are 11 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church in Crystal Springs with burial in Poplar Springs Cemetery. Stringer Funeral Home of Crystal Springs is handling arrangements.

Mr. Thompson was a native of Hazlehurst. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University in 1940. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea. As a pilot, he flew 55 combat missions in A-26 aircraft and attained the rank of Lt. Colonel.

Mr. Thompson was a biologist and had retired from the Vicksburg District Corps of Engineers as Chief of the Environmental Analysis Branch in 1980. He was an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Crystal Springs.

Survivors include wife, Emma; daughters, Claire Sanders and Becky Perrett, both of Brandon; sisters, Martha Hennington of Crystal Springs and Helen Yates of Hazlehurst; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
