Karen was born July 13, 1948 to Boyd and Loreen (Olsen) Knudson. She attended Centerville Public School and graduated in 1966.

Shortly afterwards, she married Gary Preheim and to this union, two sons were born: Brad and Bryan. Tragically, within a few years, Gary was killed by a tornado.

She later married Larry Ellis, who also had two children: Keith and Missy. Karen was busy being a housewife, mom, keeping books for Larry's trucking and farming businesses and pulling her hair out when somehow along came Kevin, Corey and Brady! She certainly had her hands full! When the dust somewhat settled, she then went to work at Knudson-Buseman Insurance where she was employed for several years.

Karen and Larry enjoyed camping and traveling together. They loved each other's company, especially if this meant no kids in the vicinity! Their most memorable trip was an extended tour of Alaska. They thoroughly enjoyed "wintering" together in Texas, and oh the friends they made! A special thank you to Doug and Jan Stevens for enabling Karen to keep going South even after she lost her beloved Larry in 2020 after 49 years of marriage. She was ready to go again this year, but there was a change in plans and she will be "wintering" with Larry once again.

Karen loved spending time with her family. She looked forward to her sister camp outs and sleepovers. Her grandkids and great grandkids were her pride and joy. She also enjoyed hanging out with her "club", writing poetry, sudoku puzzles, playing cards and loving on her dogs, Ginger and Toby. Her kids are so thankful for the countless hours she spent going through her pictures and making albums for each of them. She will forever be missed by many.

Grateful for their mother's love she leaves behind her children: Brad (Kim) Preheim, Bryan Preheim, Kevin (Becky) Ellis, Corey and Brady Ellis, her step-children: Keith (Janine) Ellis and Melissa (David) Friedman, 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Her younger siblings that she adored: DeLee (Vickie) Knudson, Joyce (Marty) Buseman, Kathy (Larry) Schultz, Pam (Barry) Hughes, Dale (Sherrie) Knudson, Jan (Doug) Stevens and Lori (Kevin) Hecht, her brothers-in-law: Larry Johnson and Lynn (Marge) Ellis and sisters-in-law: Jean (Paul) Peterson, Jane Knutson, Jackie (Wayne) Nelson and Jill (Mike) Kjose, plus a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind their very special friends Dave and Dianna Ness.

Her parents, granddaughter Kylie, sister Sharon Johnson, nephew Lance Buseman, brother-in-law Roger Knutson and her parents-in-law Kennard and LuVerne Ellis all preceded her in death.

Blessed be Karen's memory to each of us.
