MARYVILLE, Mo. — Jason T. Barbosa, 90, of Maryville, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, at Mosaic Life Care, in St. Joseph.
Jason was born on Aug. 17, 1933, in St. Joseph, to Mauricio and Frances Pachita (Cruz) Barbosa. He was a 1951 graduate of Christian Brothers High School, in St. Joseph, and served in the United States Army.
Over his life he was a hair stylist, owning salons in St. Joseph and later in Maryville. He enjoyed his work and his clients so much, he didn't fully retire until 2017.
He was an active member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church and involved with the church's music program and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Teri Rittermeyer; brothers, E.C. (Pelen) Barbosa, Merced Barbosa, Rico Barbosa; sisters, Lupe Cathcart, Christina Torres, Mary Helen White, and Bernie Ceglinski.
Survivors include three daughters, Toni Curtis, Platte City, Missouri, Nancy "Skippi" Warren, Smithville, Missouri, Marissa (Steve) Willis, Blue Springs, Missouri; two brothers, Faustino Barbosa, Jesse (Wanda) Barbosa; and sister, Julia Burris, all of St. Joseph; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. Graveside services 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in St. Joseph.
Parish Rosary 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends following the rosary until 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.
