Mr. Barbosa was a United States Navy Veteran having served his country in the Korean Conflict. He attended the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary. He was a Roman Catholic and a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and the USS IOWA Veterans Association. He was a licensed insurance agent with Allstate Insurance Company and retired in 2000 as the owner of the family business, Barbosa Insurance Agency, Inc., Virginia Beach, VA.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Norma Price Barbosa of Virginia Beach, his daughter, Annette Barbosa Cortez and her husband, Michael and his son, Richard Charles Barbosa and his wife Georgia all of Virginia Beach, four sisters; Ruth B. Curtin and Julia B. Burris of St. Joseph, Missouri, Christina B. Torres of Lago Vista, Texas and Bernie B. Ceglenski of Helena, Missouri, three brothers; Faustino Barbosa of St. Joseph, Missouri, Jason Barbosa of Maryville, Missouri, Jessie Barbosa of St. Joseph, Missouri and four grandchildren; Richard Paul Barbosa, Ryan Charles Barbosa and his fiancée Randee Lloyd, Brittany and Brianna Cortez and one great grandson, Wynn Charles Barbosa.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 10:00 AM. The Reverend Father Mario Fulgenzi will officiate. A private interment with military honors will be held at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
