Neva H. Gatschet, 97, Hays, died Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Hays Good Samaritan Society.

She was born February 21, 1926 in Hays, the daughter of Leonard H. and Mary (Bollig) Bell.

On January 9, 1946 she was united in marriage to Milton A. Haerich, and he preceded her in death. On February 23, 1974 she was united in marriage to Thomas C. Gatschet, and he preceded her in death.

Neva was a homemaker and Foster Grandparent. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and a former member of Daughters of Isabella, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, St. John's Auxiliary, and Hays Medical Center Auxiliary.

Survivors include three sons, T.J. Haerich and wife Joyce of Venturia, ND, Greg Haerich of Denver, CO, and Neal Haerich and wife Joyce of Harlingen, TX, six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a son, Ronald Haerich, two daughters, Joanne Haerich and Patricia Smith and husband Cliff, four brothers, Victor, Clarence, Robert, and Leonard Bell, and two sisters, Edna Brungardt and Mary Nay.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Fr. Richard Daise officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 on Thursday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. A vigil service and rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
