Charles E. Baker, 90, of South Mountain, PA, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023, at The Leland, Waynesboro, PA. Born January 3, 1933, in Quincy Township, PA, he was the son of the late Clyde T. and Wilda M. (Warren) Baker. Mr. Baker served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He served with the Heavy Mortar Co, 196th Infantry Regiment. He and his wife of over 70 years, Ada A. (Wagaman) Baker, were married on June 13, 1953, in Smithsburg, MD. In his early life, Mr. Baker was employed as an ice delivery person and worked construction. He later worked as an equipment operator at South Mountain Restoration Center for over 30 years.
He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1191 and was a member of the South Mountain Fish & Game Club, Waynesboro Fish & Game Club, Owls Club in Waynesboro, Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15, Waynesboro and William Max McLaughlin V.F.W. Post #695, Waynesboro. He was an avid bowler at Sunshine Lanes, Waynesboro and enjoyed being in the mountains, especially hunting, fishing and hunting mushrooms. In addition to local hunting, he enjoyed taking hunting trips to Maine.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Barry Baker and his wife, Lydia of Youngstown, FL and Steve Baker of York, PA; one daughter, Cindy Hutton and her husband, Mark of Fayetteville, PA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Marvin Baker of Galloway, NJ, Roger Baker of South Mountain, and Berry Baker of South Mountain; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Dominique Griffith and two brothers, Donald Baker and Leon Baker.

Services and burial in Strang's Cemetery, South Mountain, PA will be private at the convenience of the family.
