Stephen "Steve" Wayne Lanham, 70, of Abilene, Texas, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 15 after a stroke. Visitation will be Friday, 5-7 p.m. at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Zion Lutheran Church, 2801 Antilley Rd., with Reverend Clyde Kieschnick officiating under the direction of North's Funeral Home, burial to follow at Potosi Cemetery.

Steve was an Abilene small businessman and co-founder of RWL Recycling, Inc., and was instrumental in the establishment of Texas Metals and Recycling Co. Steve went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 15 after a stroke. He was 70 years young. Steve's family and Pastor were at his side as he made his final journey to Heaven's gates.

Steve was born in Cisco, Texas in 1937 to Herman and Winona Lanham. He was one of eleven children. Steve graduated from Cisco High School in 1955 and attended Cisco Junior College before joining the Navy in 1956. He moved to Abilene in 1959 where he met and married Patricia "Kaye" Linsley in 1962. Steve was a devoted husband to his wife Kaye of 46 years and he was a loving father to his son Wayne Lanham of Potosi and Melanie Lanham Trevino of Abilene. The light of Steve's life was his four grandchildren, Megan, Morgan, Justin and Taylor. Steve would beam with pride and joy whenever he spent time with his grandchildren. They shared many special times together that they will always remember and treasure. Steve was a friend to many and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those in need. He had a vision for the recycling industry and continued to help see that vision come true up until the time of his death. He loved to farm and fish with his brother Jim every chance they got and they seemed almost inseparable from each other. Steve served his Lord as an Elder at Zion Lutheran Church in Abilene for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Dennis Lanham; three sisters Linda Lanham, Ruth Lanham and Doris Snyder.

He is survived by his wife; Kaye Lanham of Abilene, one son; Wayne Lanham and wife Terri of Potosi; one daughter Melanie Trevino and husband Tony of Abilene.
