She was born on July 8, 1924 in Alexis, IL, the daughter of James Melton and Carrie Frances (Meador) Hook. She was raised and educated in Mercer and Warren Counties.
Anna married Elmo Otten in Missouri in 1942. She then married Ervin Hurt in Illinois in 1951. Anna later married Raleigh Homer in Abingdon, IL; he preceded her death.
Anna worked at Monmouth Hospital in the laundry department for four years before becoming a fulltime stay at home mother and homemaker. She loved doing puzzles and watching western movies with her friends. She enjoyed collecting red birds and photographs. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Anna Marilyn Roe of Monmouth, IL, Elma Carolyn Miles of Nebraska, and Joyce Ann Romine of Monmouth, IL; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Hook of Galesburg, IL, John (Bonnie) Hook of Texas, and David (Doris) Hook of West Burlington, IA; and one sister, Donna Gray of Abingdon, IL.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Herbert Hook, Henry Hook, Leonard Hook, Howard Hook, Jessie Hook, Jimmie Hook; and her sisters; Bessie Deppe, Betty Phipps, and Eddie Lee Schisler.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date. Interment will be at Hope Cemetery, Galesburg, IL. Memorials can be made to the Anna Homer Memorial Fund and sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
