Jesse was born June 26, 1937 at home in Berwick, Illinois attending small country schools growing up around Herman, St. Augustine, Abingdon, and London Mills. Jesse worked as a forklift operator at Briggs Mfg. in Abingdon for 39 years until the factory closed in 2001.
Jesse married Dorothy Bearce and together they had 5 children. Jesse is survived by two sons, Jesse F. "Frank" Hook, Jr. of Fairview, Illinois and Jeffrey (Tasha) Hook of Gatlinburg, Tennessee; three daughters, Teresa (Larry) Poston of Cleveland, Texas, Joni (Steve) Cullers of Rosemont, Minnesota, and Carrie (Matt) Montgomery of Rock Island, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Jesse is also survived by four brothers, James Hook of Abingdon, Robert Hook of Galesburg, John (Bonnie) Hook of Gainesville, Texas, and David (Doris) Hook of West Burlington, Iowa; and two sisters, Anna Homer of Monmouth, Illinois and Donna Gray of Abingdon. Along with his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by seven siblings.
Jesse enjoyed being with his brothers, collecting Abingdon Pottery and die cast cars. He also enjoyed watching trains from his brother's rail house.
Cremation has been accorded. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2022 at Hope Cemetery, Warren Co., Illinois. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be directed to Seminary Manor, Galesburg, Illinois.
