He is survived by a son, Timothy (and Lisa May) Hook of Maquon, Illinois; two daughters, Tamara (and Roger) McClure of St Augustine, Illinois and Tina (and Jeremy) Derry of Abingdon, Illinois; three brothers, Robert Hook of Galesburg, John (and Bonnie) Hook of Texas and David (and Doris) Hook of Burlington, Iowa; two sisters, Anna Homer of Monmouth and Donna Gray of Abingdon; grandchildren, Randall, Ryan, Rachel, Aaron, Adam, Amanda, Chandler and Alyson. Great- Grandchildren, Maia, Hudson, Beckett, Isaac, Lillian, Christian, and Luca. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Howard, Herbert, Leonard, Henry, and Jesse Hook. Sisters, Eddie Lee Schisler, Ella Hook, Bessie Deppe and Bettie Phipps.
James was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean War in Alaska. He retired from Maytag in Galesburg after 39 ½ years. He enjoyed NASCAR, roller skating, and mushroom hunting.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Abingdon Cemetery. Pastor Rick Fritz will officiate.
