Lycurgus was born in Biggs Settlement/Peterman, Alabama to Miles Monroe and Effie Rebecca (McClure) Biggs. His siblings were: Cicero Cincinnatti, Janie Elizabeth(Biggs) Matthews, John, and Rebecca Janie.
It is not know exactly when Lycurgus died. Headstone very hard to read. Believe year to 1874, based on court records found in Caldwell Co. courthouse. Family history has it that he was poisoned by a business partner. His brother Cicero would not talk about Lycurgus' death in his later years. It was reported that Lycurgus and his siblings were among the guest at the Huff Plantation celebrating Texas Independence Day in March of 1873.
